Wow! Stuff! And other stuff!
News Item #1. Live DJ Set thing

I shall be DJing in Warsaw, Poland on Friday the 22nd of May, 2009. Ya, rly. It's taking place at Jadłodajnia Filozoficzna, and I'm playing with Duże Pe, Barto and DJ Spox. More details? You'll find them at : AKTIVIST - MYSPACE - LAST.FM - It should be poppy, dancey, ravey, fun. I hope some people out there will be sufficiently interested to mosey on down, as it's been a long time since I got the chance to do this sort of thing, and it'll be a long time before I do it again, in all probability. This news sort of leads on to...
News Item #2. Live DJ Mix mp3 thing
As a result of the above 'gig', I decided to lash up a quick live mix on the CDJs, to give those people who've never heard of me (i.e. almost everybody) an idea of what they might hear. So, I might as well give everybody the option of listening to it. Just over 20 minutes long, feat. Stevie Wonder, Monkey Mafia, The Phenomenal Handclap Band, Royksopp, Banbarra, The Emperor Machine, DJ Shadow, Mr. Oizo and a few other bits and bobs. Worth a download? I couldn't possibly say one way or the other, but if you think so, right click [HERE]
News Item #3. Music From The Pig Fink * 2006 - 2009

I've decided to upload some examples of what I've been up to since Radio Soundhog 6. Much of this stuff has either been previously heard only in selected circles, or not put out at all. Maybe there's a reason for that? Anyway, there's everything from noisy dance music, to prog rock and library music re-edits, to the occasional old style bastard pop track. 16 tracks in all. You can get it, if you really want, [HERE]

Excuses, excuses ...
First up, I've been asked by a few people why I've not uploaded Radio Soundhog 7. Well, I just wasn't happy with the last 10 minutes or so of the version which went out on the radio. As a result, I won't be 'releasing' it on here for public download until I've re-done it, which could take some time, I'm afraid. It will appear at some point, honestly.
Tedmix (see posting below) has done a good few hundred quid in donations, which I'm well pleased about as you might imagine. To celebrate, I've plucked a track out of it (which I actually did in 2005 but didn't do anything with until now) and put together a little visual accompaniment to it. It's amazing what you can do with an oscilloscope, a faulty TV and a selection of broken 8-bit computers and games consoles. If you've not donated and downloaded the full mix, maybe this might tempt you. Or it might not. Nobody can say I haven't tried...
You might want to try the HQ option... it sounds better.

60 minute Acidted mix, download for donation...
Soundhog in straightforward dance mix shocker? Well, nearly. Over at acidted.blogspot.com, you'll find instructions on how to get hold of an hour-long mix, mixing a selection of stuff from 1988 to 1996 in more interesting ways than most people could manage. A link to the mix is yours in exchange for a donation to one (or all) of Acidted's nominated charities, who do research into children's brain tumours.
A visit to the Acidted blog will give you all the details you need to know, and an insight into just why this has come about. I know everyone expects everything for nothing these days, but I hope you'll take a look, and better still, a listen in this instance.

Radio Soundhog Volume 7 BBC iPlayer link...
You've got until until 1am this Sunday night before it vanishes. 57 minutes in, if you don't want to listen to the whole show... although perhaps you should, there's some very good music in it.

Radio Soundhog Volume 7 finally airs...
I wasn't expecting it to ever get finished, but finished it is. Well, as finished as it's ever going to be. Three years after RsH#6 leaked out to a disinterested world, and over two and a half years since I started on it, the latest (and the final) Radio Soundhog mix finally escapes, from my hard drive into the ether, this coming Sunday evening (December 21st) on the actual proper radio airwaves.
It's going out on BBC Radio Wales on Adam Walton's show (fittingly, the exact same station and programme that my first ever long(ish) mix did, six long years ago). I realise most people reading this won't be able to receive that particular BBC outpost on a proper VHF radio, but you can listen to it live over the internet using that iPlayer thing, or on the telly using one of those digital satellite/freeview boxes. All the details are HERE. The mix is an hour long, as per usual, and will be going out around 11:00pm (GMT).
I'm not giving out any clues as to what's in it. It will probably appear on the site in the not too distant future, but certainly not for a few weeks at least. I advise you to listen to it now, in case I change my mind. It'll be on the iPlayer for 7 days after transmission, so if you're doing something more interesting at that time of night (which I suspect you might be) then there's an option, I'll post a link for that when it becomes active... Anyway, consider yourselves warned.
There'll be a another, very different kind of mix to download in a few days as well, but more details on that later.
Thank you for your attention. As you were...
(p.s. I've been sent a link to an internet forum - which I no longer have any interest in - where someone appears to be acting out some sort of parody of me. A quick note to the person involved: Parodies are supposed to be humourous. You appear to be falling short of this basic requirement by a bloody long chalk.)

Advert...
No mixes or any other music type stuff on the horizon at the moment - I've not got the inclination to do anything, I'm afraid. However, two things to bring to your attention:
1: I appear to have developed a 'Facebook' page. I'm not sure how, but it seemed to create itself so I thought I'd better put some info in it. I don't really understand the point of it all, I've already got the MySpace thing which is depressing enough, but you might want to visit it if you're into all that 'social networking' bollocks. Your choice. It's here: Arsebook page.
2: Those familiar with Radio Soundhog 6 may remember a glamtastic section near the end, pitting South Wales rock/punk legends Flyscreen with well known '70s heartthrob and babysitter Gary Glitter. Well, for the first time ever, a band has seen fit to embrace my messings into their official catalogue. Therefore, on Flyscreen's new career spanning retrospective CD "Home Taping Is Killing Music", you'll find a new version of Popsong Singalong vs Rock & Roll Part 2.

The CD is available in a nicely packaged, limited and numbered edition from the Flyscreen Website for a tenner, and they have a MySpace as well. I'm sure some of you out there do still buy the occasional CD, and thus actually support artists once in a while... don't ya?

A grumpy man is interviewed ...
Here's an example of just how rude I can be when discussing my past life in bootlegs... I can't quite believe Jon Nelson put it up, but he did and it's right here:
Some Assembly Required blog ...
Actually, I was quite restrained, on reading it back... You should hear the potty-mouthed stuff I come out with in private...
Also, my mate Sean has put up the collected fruits of his band ex-rental up on his website, as a free to download album. It contains tracks spanning 1999 to 2007, and there are many lo-fi (if that's still an acceptable term) synth-pop gems on it. There's also the first remix I ever did for anybody, way back in 2002 (I think it was 2002, anyway) of 'Sophie's Audition'. Obviously I wouldn't do it like that now, but it may be worthy of your time. And if not, the rest of the album certainly is.

It's been a long time, I shouldn't have left you ...
...without a load of novelty fluff to step to.
I've relented, and given my alter-alter-ego his own webpage again. Clicking the graphic below will take you to his hide-out. Here you can sample the delights of Machadaynu, *those* 'Marshall' tracks, Stuart Hall getting busy with Herb Alpert, and a new tune which makes Wisbey's "The Ladies Bras" even more infuriating. We dare you to enter the mysterious world of...
(By the way, if anyone has got a properly working, UK-spec, 6581-equipped C64 with a decent power supply that they'd like to sell to me for something approaching a sensible price, do get in touch. I might also be interested in a similarly working 1541 drive and a microswitched autofire Competition Pro joystick. One of the clear ones would be nice...) UPDATE: C64, PSU and C2N acquired (thanks Paul) - joystick still sought!

Well, it could have happened ...
A couple of years ago, I did an oddball remix of a very oddball song. It proved quite popular. There was talk of releasing it commercially. It could have been a No.1. It never happened. But just imagine... imagine...

Just a quick note - I'm no longer checking the old "soundhog.org.uk" email account, as I cannot be bothered ploughing through the junk mail to find the occasional legitimate message. If you want to get in touch for any reason, use the email address which is printed over there, on the left...
...not that anyone actually does email me these days, of course.

There is still absolutely nothing happening in the world of Soundhog ...
Well, not 100% true - I'm still breathing and that, but... anyway, someone sent me this the other day. A TV broadcast of a rock & roll dance troupe from Croatia (I think), taking part in a world championship event, dancing to a modified version of... well... you'll hear.
Not only that, someone's uploaded the old Q-Mix video for my version of Liberty X/Rich X's 'Being Nobody'. I believe this is still shown on music channel 'The Hits' quite a lot, amongst a truckload of other m*sh-up shite, but it's nice to see the original Q graphics on this. Early 2003, I think this is from...
